Overview

ONE OF HOLBROOK'S FINEST 168.18Acres | 68.05Ha

This spectacular property steeped in history was once the site of the Kildrummie Hereford Stud and was part of the famous Carnegie cattle empire. The centrepiece is the sensational and unique homestead, built in the 1950's, that has been renovated and transformed into a remarkable private residence. The Bull Shed as it was known housed their stud bulls and stud selling complex. In the early 2000's the Bull Shed was transformed into a stunning family home. Many of the original features of the Bull Shed remain. The massive proportions of the shed are breathtaking and the building features enormous hardwood timber columns and trusses supporting the vaulted ceilings. 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, Study, large country kitchen plus a full butler's pantry. Spacious lounge with large fireplace adjoining dining area. Completed with Hydronic heating, Evaporative cooling, Town water and an inground salt-chlorinated pool. The external look of the building has not altered. You enter the house via a vestibule that has been constructed to resemble a cattle station meat house The large entrance area can be used as a garage, rumpus room or entertainment area. Massive Balinese-style temple doors open into the grand open-plan dining and living areas. The elegant dining room is defined by the original internal cattle yards. Bookshelves line the length of the living room. Large picture windows run the length of the house and provide panoramic views of the Great Dividing Range in the distance, and scenic views of the property. The galvanised iron lined, grain room is now a very large master bedroom with ensuite bathroom and walk-in robe A large gas and electric Aga stove dominates the kitchen, while the butler's pantry features the original wooden feed bins which have been converted into storage units A wood-fired hydronic heating system and a large open fire place keep the house warm in the colder months A heritage-style timber building at the rear acts as a summer pool house and has an open fireplace. Working improvements include tree lines, small steel cattle yards, a 3-door shed and small hayshed. The entrance to Kildrummie is a long tree lined, bitumen road to the house. Kildrummie is subdivided into 12 paddocks with some electric fencing. Stock water is supplied by town water and three surface dams. Pastures are mainly phalaris, clover and ryegrass There is potential to run 50 cows and calves Providing an opportunity to obtain quality farmland halfway between Melbourne and Sydney on the Hume Highway. Kildrummie is a very private rural retreat on Jingellic Road, with only a short 2 km drive to the beautiful town of Holbrook and it is only 50 minutes from Albury airport. There is an outstanding elevated block behind the house that encompasses views over the whole farm with the town of Holbrook in one direction and the Great Dividing Range in the other.
