Right on target!
Using ‘My Market’ to fine-tune your online reach
Real estate marketing is all about establishing and boosting your local profile.
It doesn’t make financial sense to advertise to people who live well beyond your ‘patch’; yet many agents spend thousands advertising in traditional mediums like state and national newspapers, radio and television – without knowing how many ‘locals’ they’re actually reaching. It’s a lot of money for very little reward – a poor return-on-investment.
By contrast, digital advertising enables you to target your local market suburb-by-suburb. What’s more, it’s much cheaper than traditional advertising mediums – and you can track people’s responses far more accurately.
The ‘My Market’ setting in your RateMyAgent dashboard makes it easy for you to target the local market in which you operate.
‘The setting helps you select and target your local market.”
Agent Promoter utilises the suburbs you choose, to target your best reviews to vendors in your local market as they browse the web.
How do I add & remove suburbs?
Go to the Profile tab in your agent dashboard and scroll to the ‘My Market’ section (called ‘Our Market’ in agency dashboards).

You’ll see that it’s automatically been populated with the suburbs where you’ve recently sold property. Agents can add up to 10 suburbs in their local market and agencies up to 20.
How does it work?
When you run a digital advertising campaign through Agent Promoter, My Market ensures that you reach only those people who live in your target market.
Of course, a good agent seldom stays in the same territory forever. Maybe you’ve taken on a listing outside your usual area. Perhaps you want to expand into a new area within your existing agency; or maybe you’ve begun working at another agency with a different territory.
To ensure you target the right market at any given time, the setting enables you to add up to 10 suburbs manually. Just remember to update it whenever your territory changes.
The endless value of digital information
When potential vendors view your profile or pages within your market, the system tracks users with ‘cookies’ – so that later, your Agent Promoter advertising shows to the right vendors, at the right time, the right places.
This method of digital advertising is far more effective for tracking potential leads than traditional local advertising like letterbox drops and suburban newspaper advertising.
In just two months, more than 550 agents have fine-tuned their suburbs and launched over 900 promotions – displaying their best vendor reviews to their local market more than 63 million times!
