We were relatively new to the buying process, and new to buying in Victoria. One of us is self-employed, so the support in working on pre-approval really helped us manage our expectations and properties we looked at (never look at things you simply cannot afford!). We would have valued a guidance and expectation setting on pre-approved vs. bank approved funds in the current tight market. In the late stages of finalising our mortgage, we had to contribute more savings than we anticipated, which has left us with less of a buffer. It's a lesson for us, and we're still glad to be in the lovely home we're in!
