Overview

"Girraween" - An Earth Covered Masterpiece

Hidden quietly within the landscape, "Girraween", meaning place of flowers, is an exceptional, architecturally designed Marcus Ward home unlike anything else on the market. A much-loved and truly one-of-a-kind residence, this remarkable earth covered sanctuary is a masterclass in sustainability, strength and timeless design. Purposefully built to mirror the natural temperature of the earth, the home's outstanding thermal mass ensures it remains warm through winter and refreshingly cool in summer, maintaining an ambient internal temperature supported by the double glazed windows throughout. Constructed from incredible concrete brick reinforced with rebar and crowned with an astonishing 27 tonnes of concrete in the roof alone, "Girraween" stands as a testament to enduring craftsmanship and longevity. Magnificent stone feature walls anchor the home into its surroundings, creating a seamless connection between architecture and landscape. Every space oozes character and charm, with thoughtful, quirky details adding warmth and personality throughout. The accommodation is generous and offers many creative spaces, 3 bedrooms including a main suite complete with ensuite. All light-filled, north-facing open-plan living zone captures winter sun beautifully, enhancing comfort while embracing the home's sustainable ethos. Outdoors, the property continues to impress. Expansive shedding provides practicality and versatility, while the extraordinary gardens are a destination in themselves, featuring a man-made creek, impressive chook run and lush plantings, and a serene secret garden waiting to be discovered. Fully off-grid and entirely self-sufficient, "Girraween" offers the rare opportunity to live independently, securely and in harmony with nature. Private and peaceful, yet superbly positioned just 10 minutes from both Kyneton and Glenlyon, the home delivers seclusion without isolation. A true architectural masterpiece. A home built to last generations.
