I have wanted to live here ever since I was a kid. My mum felt the same way as she wandered past these homes after school in 1976. There's something about Waramanga Place, the architectural lines, the individuality of each one, the varied floorplans, and the feeling that behind every front door is something completely different.
Number 18 perfectly captures the gravitas and durability of 1970s design, with rich timber detailing, pitched ceilings and a beautifully layered quad-level floorplan. Every space within the home feels grounded and purposeful, while natural light streams in from both sides.
Entering from the carport, you're welcomed into the dining area which perches above the sunken living space below. It works beautifully as a dining room, though I can just as easily imagine it as the cosiest corner for a plush reading chair and a quiet morning coffee.
The fully renovated kitchen sits at the front of the home, offering generous storage and connecting to the large laundry and guest powder room. Downstairs, the main living area anchors the home, opening onto its own private courtyard while also providing direct access out to the Waramanga playing fields beyond.
Upstairs, the generous master bedroom includes a walk-through wardrobe, ensuite and yet another perfect morning coffee spot on the balcony amongst the gumtrees. The top floor offers a large landing area ideal for a study, two further bedrooms - yes, one with another balcony coffee spot - along with a spacious family bathroom and separate toilet. The pitched ceilings only add to the sense of scale and warmth within these rooms.
I've spoken a lot about coffee while writing this one, and that's probably because just across the way is, in my opinion, the best coffee in the Creek. Neil and his team at Village Cafe pour epic Redbrick brews alongside genuinely delicious meals. The local IGA still has the kind of staff who know you by name, the Waramanga Bakery is a local institution with elite, fresh bánh mì, while Dr Faraz and his team at the medical centre are truly exceptional.
It's easy to see why this little hub has thrived for more than 50 years. This is a place where both the homes and the community continue to flourish.
