History by the bay

Ida Bay steam sawmill was located on this land until 1930 and the remnants of the steam boiler remain as a historic reminder. At the front of the property on the crown land reserve there is an old rustic jetty where Australia's oldest sail trading vessel The May Queen tied up, the May Queen was built in 1867 and has now been restored and is docked in Hobart. Ideal for a pontoon jetty and within 50 meters direct access of a public boat ramp, the river offers fishermen trout in one a 1km direction, the ocean 6km in the other direction. School groups paddle the Lune River as part of their Outdoor Education. Hobart CBD is approximately an hour and a half drive.
