For sale is my beautiful one-bedroom Braddon apartment. Please indulge me while I tell you a little about it.
I'll start with why I chose it in the first place.
I wanted somewhere with plenty of natural light, and the north-facing aspect delivers that in every season. In winter, the sun streams through the windows and warms the living spaces naturally and in summer, the windows let a breeze through and cool the apartment down. I wanted privacy, and the mature trees outside provide exactly that. I wanted to be close enough to walk into Braddon and Civic whenever I felt like it, without feeling like I was living in the middle of it all. And I wanted a home that was easy to maintain, so weekends could be spent enjoying Canberra and its beautiful surrounds rather than looking after a property.
Four years later, those are still my favourite things about the apartment; but there are so many other things I like about it as well.
One of the things that surprised me most was just how deceptively spacious the apartment is. My partner and I both worked from home and comfortably fit two full-sized desks without compromising the living areas. The apartment also comfortably fit a king-sized bed, a dining table, an electric piano, a large couch, several guitars, a sizeable spirits collection and a very contented cat.
A lot happened here too. I recovered from surgery in this apartment. I watched the Raiders go out in straight sets in the 2025 NRL finals in this apartment. I entertained friends and family here.
I could walk to work in Civic, and at the end of the day, as I walked home, I'd often spot my cat sitting in the window waiting for me. I spent countless afternoons sitting in the winter sun as it streamed through the windows, and countless evenings enjoying the fact that I could walk into Braddon for dinner and be home again a few minutes later.
These are just a few of the reasons I've loved living here. I could go on, but this is a property listing, not my memoir.
It has been a wonderful home, and I hope whoever buys it enjoys living here as much as I have.
