Overview

ORIGINAL COTTAGE BRIMMING WITH CHARACTER AND CHARM WITH THE STATE FOREST AT YOUR DOORSTEP

Located within the historic Powelltown Mill settlement area, the cottages along Yarra Street were originally built by the local timber mill to house workers in the late 19th century to early 1900's. Full of old-world charm that is hard not to be romanced by and surrounded by the natural beauty Powelltown is best known for, this original cottage offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a relaxed country lifestyle with the State Forest right at your back door. In need of some tender love, and care, Yarra Street will fill you with an abundance of ideas of what you could do to restore this heart throb back to its former glory. Stepping inside, the home showcases the beautiful characteristics of a home of this era, with a warm and inviting feel that gives a nod to its history. High ceilings throughout gift a great sense of space to each room while original timber floorboards flow throughout and beautiful double hung sash windows allow plenty of north facing natural light into the front of the home. A cosy lounge has Dado style wood panelling and an ambient freestanding wood heater, while the kitchen features original shiplap timber panelling and a combustion stove. Both bedrooms are a good size with the bathroom in need of a renovation, but you are not without plenty of inspiration with the character and personality of the home around you. Just picture a beautiful, curved timber vanity, walk in shower, and soft, neutral tones. Outside, the property enjoys a peaceful, treed backdrop and a wonderful sense of privacy, with the State Forest accessed directly behind the property. The north facing front verandah captures full sunlight from sunrise to sunset and beautiful mountain views while the block offers many different quiet pockets to enjoy the peace, quiet, and surrounding landscapes. For those who love the outdoors, the surrounding area offers plenty to explore, while the local footy oval and beloved 'Powelly Pub' are both just moments away, where you can become intertwined with the friendly, tight knight, and community-focused lifestyle Powelltown has to offer. Original cottages like this are rare to come across so if you're feeling inspired to take on a new project or you're a budding renovator feeling inspired by this season of 'The Block', then put your creative hard hats on and by the time it comes to tools down at the end of the day, you've got somewhere incredibly peaceful and serene to enjoy.
