Overview

Off-grid, private reserve

This four-bedroom property located in the central highlands is a rare opportunity to purchase your own private reserve. The former Forest Marsh homestead has been updated and now configured with two large living areas, open plan kitchen, four bedrooms and one bathroom. This off-grid home with 240v power has fantastic infrastructure inclusive of a large battery bank, solar panels, generator for backup on those darker months, 2 X wood heating, gas hot water and cooking. This gorgeous property is a fantastic opportunity as the sale of such a large allotments is very rare. The property features a number of out buildings with substantial storage and vehicle accommodation. Located 110 kms from Hobart, and 103 kms from Launceston in the heart of the Tasmanian Central Highlands, this is popular area for holidaymakers and permanent residents, with the Great Lake the major attraction. Surrounding communities (Liawenee and Waddamana) have a strong Aboriginal presence and introduced trout to Great Lake in the 1890s. In 1911, the hydro-electric commission of Tasmania constructed three dam walls to provide water supply to the nearby Waddamana power station and formed the Great Lake. Nearby Miena has the largest population of permanent residents of the Central Highlands communities and is the centre of the major fishing lakes such as Arthurs Lake, Penstock Lagoon or Little Pine Lagoon. The land is a combination of former grazing pasture, forestry containing extensive wildlife for hunting and your own dam for recreational fishing. Entry to the property is located directly opposite the Steppes Hall off the Highland Lakes Road. Approx. 389.6 hectares (962.72 acres) Zoning 26.0 Rural Resource
