St Paul's Church stands as one of New Norfolk's most important early landmarks and is recognised as Australia's oldest former Methodist church still in use-until its
final service in 2020.
Built on land generously donated by Sir Robert Officer of Hallgreen, the foundation stone for the church was laid on 8 December 1836, with the official opening and dedication taking place on 2 November 1837.
The original chapel area remains intact, complete with its mezzanine gallery, which was added in 1865. The stained-glass windows, replacing simpler originals, were installed in 1956, adding a magnificent touch to the historic interior.
Over the years, several additions were made to support the growing community needs, in 1936 the Assembly Hall was built. 1962 a large hall with stage, internal courtyard, large kitchen and modern amenities was constructed at the rear of the property.
The entire complex occupies a substantial site, offering extensive opportunities for retail or adaptive re-use.
The site is currently zoned 'community' and a change off use to 'general business' is under way.
Architectural drawings are available with the sale.
