Our Coastal Escape...From the owners perspective;
"We've owned 19 Tallwood Crescent for almost 20 years. In fact, we still have the original brochure from when we bought it, which probably says something about how special this place has become to us!
It started as our holiday home - an easy, low-maintenance escape from the city where we could switch off, slow down and immerse ourselves in nature. Sitting amongst the trees, walking to a choice of unspoilt and mostly unpopulated beaches, waking to birdsong… it became our true coastal escape.
We've enjoyed many wonderful years here: Christmases, Easters and get togethers on the deck as we watched the sun disappear over the mountains, and played more games of Finska than we can count! We even created a dedicated outdoor games area as well as a flat grass area for ball games loved by our younger visitors to the sunny north side of the house. These outdoor areas have been incredibly special.
The full-length back deck has always been one of our favourite places. We've spent endless afternoons sitting there, reading, relaxing and watching the light move through the trees and the sun set over the mountains. Because of the elevation, it really does feel like you're sitting amongst the tree canopy.
We've also loved how practical the property is. There's plenty of off-street parking for the caravan, boats and all the coastal toys, and an enormous storage area underneath the house that is almost half the size of the home itself. It has been invaluable for keeping everything from bikes and kayaks to tools and camping gear tucked away.
The garden has been a real labour of love. We've hand-selected many of the plants ourselves and watched them grow, while keeping everything relatively easy-care.
We've also loved the separation between upstairs and downstairs. It meant having family and guests here was easy - everyone could be together, but still have their own space when they needed it.
Set on a 1300 sqm block, the home has been renovated upstairs with new built in wardrobes in the bedrooms and a family bathroom/laundry. There is an extender clothes line conveniently on the upper deck. The kitchen area is well equipped and well maintained and features an island bench. Downstairs there are two new in built cupboards and a renovated bathroom. It also has a large living / TV area. The window fittings and curtains have all been updated throughout the house.
This part of old Rosedale is friendly and there is a great sense of community.
