Original beach houses in settings like this are rare gems. Positioned at the northern end of Merry Beach, this two-bedroom cottage looks across open lawn to white sand and azure water, with no road or neighbouring rooftops interrupting the outlook.
Previously treasured by one family for 26 years, it captures the enduring appeal of an Australian beach holiday. The generous deck provides room for outdoor dining, summer barbecues and watching a family cricket match unfold on the grass, often with the resident kangaroos nearby.
With the sand just steps away, swimming, surfing, fishing and snorkelling become part of everyday life. Wander down for an early dip, linger over coffee on the deck or settle in with a book. Everyone can come and go at their own pace.
Coastal walks, abundant birdlife and seasonal whale sightings bring nature close, while evenings invite conversation around the fire pit and nights fall asleep to the sound of the waves.
Local shops and Merry Street restaurant are around the corner, with the Murramarang South Coast Walk and surrounding beaches offering plenty to explore. With no lawns or gardens of your own to maintain, there is more time to enjoy it all.
Keep the cottage's original simplicity or explore existing plans for a substantial extension, subject to the relevant approvals.
A family escape or a permanent change of pace, this is an invitation to make your own memories beside the sea.
