Disappointing Experience

My initial dealings with Steve Smith were pleasant, but unfortunately things changed very quickly once my offer was accepted. In my experience, several issues arose that made the entire process far more stressful than it needed to be. Firstly, a significant structural roof issue was initially downplayed as a simple maintenance matter. I had to push repeatedly to get this properly addressed, which required multiple back-and-forth conversations that could have been avoided with transparency from the start. He also failed to pass along an important query to the seller’s agent, which almost delayed settlement. This felt careless and unprofessional. After settlement, Steve became noticeably rude and unresponsive. During handover, he seemed in a rush to get it over with and spoke in a very abrupt manner. It was not the level of professionalism I expected. I was also told that a particular house defect had been repaired professionally, but after moving in, I discovered it had simply been substituted with a $5 makeshift item from Kmart, and the original defective component was still there. This was incredibly disappointing. Efforts to resolve this were met with no response Lastly, when I requested help obtaining instructions for a niche DIY system installed by the previous owner, Steve refused to assist, insisting I contact a specialist. That specialist quoted $3,000. I later contacted the previous owner directly and the owner came over, fixed the issue in 10 minutes, and provided the instructions without any problem. All I asked was for Steve to ask a simple question to the owner however his refusal to make this gesture had a lasting impression on me and his service Overall, my experience with Steve Smith was extremely frustrating. While things started off well, the lack of transparency, poor communication, dismissive behaviour, and unwillingness to assist after settlement left me very disappointed. Based on my experience, I would not recommend him.
