When Nigel retired, they purchased their peninsular dream home on Walworth Avenue in Newport's golden triangle. For decades, Nigel was a regular sight in Newport. He stayed fit with daily walks to the beach, stopping to chat to neighbours. He had time and a smile for people and would entertain them on his sunny veranda overlooking Newport Beach.
Walworth is a family street and when Nigel aged 96, passed away recently after a brief illness, neighbours of all ages gathered at the family home to pay tribute to him. He had a status as an elder of the tribe. His awareness for life was captured in his journals. He made 23,909 consecutive daily entries into his diary. They reflect the lifelong romance he had with the northern beaches.
