Finds every possible way to take your bond

I rented through MARQ property and was very disappointed with how the bond process was handled. We left the property in a very clean and tidy condition, including arranging professional cleaning and steam-cleaning of carpets. After the final inspection, we were still asked to re-clean certain areas, which we did. Even after following their requests, the agency claimed there were “still issues” but never provided any proof or photos. Instead, they tried to push a $450 professional cleaning charge and asked us to either pay directly or agree to have it deducted from our bond. It’s frustrating when tenants make the effort to professionally clean and comply with inspection feedback, but still face attempts to lose part of their bond without evidence. Tenants in the ACT should know that bond disputes go through the Rental Bonds Office/ACAT, and landlords must provide proof.
