What's around 114 Mcilwraith Ave

Federation charm with a cutting-edge architectural twist!

Behind the delightful frontage of this circa. 1910 Queensland workers cottage, lies an inspired fusion of original character features and modern industrial-inspired design. Situated in a peaceful exclusive Norman Park enclave, the multi-level redesign by Studio Schofield Architecture + Interiors makes the most of a perfect rear northern aspect, cooling easterly breezes and deep corner block. The front section of the high-set home retains the timeless appeal of a broad verandah, original hoop pine floors, VJ walls and elegant pressed metal ceilings. Two bedrooms (master with ensuite and walk-in-robe) flow off the grand hallway which merges seamlessly with the incredible dual-level contemporary extension. The upper level of this new wing encompasses two further bedrooms, a second living area and a three-way bathroom, creating the perfect family layout. On the ground level, a hidden entry to Hume Street is integrated into a floor to ceiling polycarbonate wall, flooding the space with light and maintaining privacy. Inside, prepare to be captivated by the high ceilings, soaring voids and exposed beams. Take in the stunning use of burnt and polished concrete flooring, warm okoume timber, custom bench seating (inc. draws) and a custom kitchen with contrasting crisp white stone benchtops, matt black fittings and carrara marble splashback. Each element has been hand selected for its unique aesthetic appeal and ability to make efficient use of space and enhance lifestyle and environmental factors. The open-plan lounge and dining areas flow through sets of bi-fold and sliding stacker doors out to the glorious northern yard with outdoor entertaining area and lawn. The intimate and private yard leads to the architecturally designed granny flat. Designed by SMITH Architects the space boasts an ensuite, clever storage, private courtyard, workshop and carport with separate driveway onto Hume Street. The space is ideal for accommodating extended family members, teenagers, guests or even a professional home office/business/studio. Additional features: * Designer kitchen with butlers style pantry and European appliances; pyrolytic oven, induction cooktop and dishwasher; plumbed fridge space * Unique design on the Eastern wall allows floor-to-ceiling door to be opened filling the home with cooling breezes; * Keyless home entry and master key opening every door in the home and flat * Double remote integrated garage with huge storage area plus single carport behind sliding gate for the granny flat * Architectural extension (Studio Schofield) which takes full advantage of everything this rare corner block has to offer * Granny flat architecturally designed by the in-demand Stewart Smith (SMITH Architects) * Corner property boasts 2 separate addresses (43 Hume street and 114 McIlwraith Ave); ideal for a home business * Fully fenced front and rear yards offer plenty of space for children and pets to play * Workshop/shed finished in traditional stained Kosciusko glass * Reverse cycle air-conditioning throughout; louvred windows to capture breezes * 2.7-metre-high ceilings in kitchen/dining, 3.3 metres in living, 6 metre void, plus soaring raked rooflines on the upper level reflective of the original cottages roof Positioned in a wide tree-lined street, surrounded by multi-million-dollar properties, this distinctive address is just footsteps from great cafés and transport, including express services to the CBD just 5km away. Darcy is amazing. He won’t stop until the house...

Darcy is amazing. He won’t stop until the house is sold, and even in our case he still didn’t stop, and assisted with our purchase of our new house. Darcy knew how to create demand and interest and create the pressure for buyers to put in their best offers. Highly recommend Darcy, Bailey and the team if you want your house sold!

Darcy and his team are superstars. The market...

Darcy and his team are superstars. The market conditions for our sale weren't exactly positive from a seller's perspective, despite this we got fantastic numbers of people through the open homes due to how they marketed the home. The moment Darcy had someone wanting to have a conversation, we were on, and he got it over the line. Very few agents have the intuition that Darcy shows for balancing the buyers' and sellers' needs and wants, I've never had Darcy come to me and say "this is your buyer" and it not be true.
