REVIEW of House Sale - Daniel Hastings - 4 Yuruga, West Wollongong - 2 Feb 2017 - MMJ Sales Various members of my family have been well-served by MMJ Residential over many years. The staff have been wonderful - always available, friendly and very competent. In our 70s my wife and I found our driveway too steep for us. After moving over 300kms from Wollongong we found renting out the property from a distance was difficult despite the fantastic MMJ Residential Property Management staff. We are indebted to Sandra, Anne-Marie, Lainie and Sarah for their efforts over many years. We decided to sell, so Sandra put us in touch with Daniel Hastings, Director and Chief Auctioneer of MMJ Sales. What a blessing that turned out to be. There exists an MMJ brochure that describes what MMJ think of Daniel, extolling his work ethic. Every word is true. Although our house was on the lower end of the market he treated us as if we owned MMJ's multi-million dollar office block next door. He kept us informed and advised many times a day. He couldn't treat a younger brother any better than he helped us! At auction he was at his masterful best. He gently steered the bidders from a very lowly starting figure to a high that was very close to his own honest estimate. That was despite one of the worst (and most invalid) Building Inspection Reports ever. He advised the bidders to talk to Wollongong's most creditable Structural Engineers who had supervised extensive and expensive under-house work two months prior to the sale, signing it off with an off-the-cuff statement: "This must be the safest house in West Wollongong". Every year in the New Year Gaye & I reminisce about impressive people we have met the previous year - and decide who we were most impressed by. Daniel Hastings came top of the list. In life there are people one meets fleetingly but memorably - Daniel was another example of "ships that pass in the night". It was a real pleasure to have met Daniel Hastings.
