More than a million dollars in safety improvements on the Bendigo Jockey Club's training track are expected to be complete by mid August 2016, just in time for the spring racing season. The $1.1 million project involves removal of the synthetic track surface, to be replaced with a new sand composition. There will be a separate sand track and slow sand-track, ensuring safer conditions for the track riders. The upgrade will include installation of a new automatic irrigation system to ensure the track provides a safe and all-weather surface for trainers to prepare their horses year round. The racecourse hosts more than 20 meetings annually, while more than 200 horses train on the training track each morning. The Bendigo Jockey Club is dedicated to offering the best racing experience in Victoria and the new track will ensure that the training facilities are of the highest standard.
