•We recently purchased a property through Property Today Real Estate, represented by consultants Jamie Hill. The experience was distressing and we believe had significant communication and conduct concerns. One example: throughout the transaction, we experienced immense pressure to proceed without what we consider to have been full and clear disclosure. We found some significant defects with the property, and when we raised these concerns, the response from the lead consultant was, in our view, dismissive and confrontational. We were told we were “failing the sellers,” and advised by the secondary consultant that the sellers would terminate the contract if we continued attempting to negotiate matters arising from the building and pest inspection. After the contract became unconditional, we identified further severe material issues with the property not disclosed. We feel these were well-known to the agency/consultants/sellers. On the day of settlement, a banking delay occurred outside our control. During this time, we received repeated calls and communications that we perceived as accusatory and harassing. Previously approved access to the property was withdrawn. We were verbally abused and were told: “At the end of the day, you will still have a roof over your head... I’m not worried about you! I am worried about my sellers and their mental health!” We found this statement beyond distressing and poor. We encourage buyers to document all communications and seek independent legal advice if engaging in property transactions. Rather than facilitating a balanced and professional transaction, the conduct we experienced appeared focused solely on the sellers’ interests. We have lodged formal complaints regarding what we believe constitute breaches of professional conduct obligations under Queensland property law. In our opinion, Property Today Real Estate demonstrated some of the least professional and ethical behaviour we have ever encountered!
We have had the upmost respect for Jamie and his genuine passion for looking after his clients. From initial contacts and marketing through to complex “ tricky”buyers, we always felt Jamie had our back and was our confident professional. His years in the Sunshine Coast market gives a depth of experience and networking that proved invaluable.
