Happiness to extreme disappointment

I excitedly applied and was successful in getting my dream unit by the ocean, however I missed the red flags at the time that the unit had remained unoccupied for several weeks. I immediately felt harassed and intimidated by the tenant underneath who took an instant dislike to me and made my life extremely uncomfortable to the point that I only stayed there for 5 nights out of the month in total as I did not feel safe. I contacted the tenant's union to see what my options were as out of the 5 nights I had 3 complaints put in by this tenant and I had been contacted by the Property manager regarding these complaints. I had no alternative but to look for another place to live. I felt like I couldn't have any family visit because any noise would set this other tenant off, and he would complain. The Tenants union advised me to supply a Notice to Terminate due to my feeling unsafe and feeling that I was not able to have my family visit, and now I am still being harassed for payment of rent, which I did pay an extra 2 weeks along with the Notice to terminate as advised by the tenants union until the unit is occupied which has now been well over 5 weeks and makes me think that they will never find a tenant due to the requirement for someone who doesn't have a life. According to the Tenants Union the average unoccupied days for a unit is the maximum of 16, we are well past that already. This was an extremely expensive and disappointing experience!!
