•Over the past few weeks, I've developed something of a nasty taste when thinking about the day I bought the property. For a starters, Mark wasn't honest with regards to the owners - in fact he was deceitful, claiming they had already bought a property elsewhere so were eager to offload. I now know this not to be true, and whilst it may not have made any difference as to the outcome, it did leave me wondering what was the motive for this(I’m pretty sure what the intention was), and if this wasn't true - what else was untruthful. I also didn't like the way negotiations panned out, and looking back believe my inexperience and expectation of the agent, was played on. I was the only bidder at 1.2 during the auction, so then gained first right to negotiate, yet another couple supposedly then made an offer after the auction of 1.325 - even though they had the opportunity to bid earlier and obviously lower - but didn't, strange then that they would then supposedly bid 125k more than they were previously inclined to. I was then told if I bid $1000 more it would be mine. I was reluctant to do so as I felt 'played' by the agent, who even informed me that 'I had the cash' it felt like he had promised the owners a minimum price. I also made clear to the agent that 1.3 was my limit, and I thought I was in a position to negotiate first as no one else had bid during the auction – how then does another bidder become involved?? I've explained this scenario to a few people over the last few weeks - they all agree it was, at least, a strange sequence of events and one they haven’t encountered before.
Mark has been a wonderful agent to deal with and I highly recommend him. Mark was consistently available to offer advice, listen to any of our questions and gave plenty of time to all the potential buyers. He took away any stress and was a pleasure to deal with.
