Vendor Comments:
The house was built in the early 1920's as a part of the War service homes for WW1 service men to purchase. The two French doors each side of the front door are an original feature of the homes from this era (1919 - early 20's war homes) as is the steep front roof line. The allotment for the war service houses in Ash St and Cornish St exceeded the recommended allotment at around 50 perches (an old measurement which works with yards). Other war homes of this era were built in Queensland and Sydney (Gladesville/ Putney areas). 1 Cornish St held a larger allotment of 50 perches including land at number 3 as well as land extending back from 12 Anzac Ave to Ash St (another 150 perches) where a chicken farm was run until the 1970's.
