•Purchasing our first home was an exciting and deeply meaningful milestone for us and we entered the process enthusiastic and hopeful. Not only about the home itself, but about building a positive, trusting relationship with our agent throughout such an important experience. Matt is bubbly and friendly, which initially gave us confidence and made us excited to start the process. Unfortunately once the contract was signed, communication declined significantly. I had reached out 3 times over 3 days after our offer was accepted following up information he said he would provide to us. These were never answered. We felt we had not received guidance on the next steps as discussed. We did not hear from Matt for just under a month and ultimately had to contact him ourselves to organise a final inspection three days before settlement. During this interaction, we were made to feel like an inconvenience, despite this being a standard part of the process. If we had been contacted regarding the next steps we could have planned this better. This is our first time, and are not familar with all the processes. Settlement day was particularly upsetting. I arrived at the office at 4pm, as discussed with Matt prior to arriving there. I was met only by reception. Settlement still had to be checked, and the keys were handed over without any personal interaction from Matt. Futhermore, the sign was removed within 24 hours without ever displaying a “Sold” sticker. As first-home buyers, we were genuinely looking forward to that small but meaningful moment and photo. Not receiving it felt like yet another reminder that it was just another sale. This was the largest purchase of our lives and a once-in-a-lifetime milestone. We feel that many of the special moments associated with buying our first home were taken away from us, and we hope this feedback is taken seriously for future first-home buyers.
