This is my first home purchase and whilst I was armed with knowledge from a retired real estate agent friend, it was so helpful to have early knowledge of the availability of the property. There is no doubt that this influenced the level of my offer. Simply I wanted the property and preferred to only compete against one other party. I do not like auctions and would not buy a property at auction or get into a bidding war with a lot of other interested parties after 'cattle call' inspections though I appreciate that is how property sales are normally done.
