Four years ago, my wife and I decided to sell our home which overlooked the Brisbane River in the Western suburbs of Brisbane. We consulted a high-profile local agent and listed the property. Over the next four years we had four different agents to market our property. Each agent charged us marketing costs and photography costs plus online boost fees. Some did videos, others did newspaper advertising and all listed on realestate.com.au. We spent over $100,000 in marketing fees without generating a single legitimate offer.
