Misleading and unethical conduct

David knowingly misrepresented the state of the property and was very deceitful in his approach. The building report came back stating there was evidence of moisture in bedroom adjacent to the bathroom which was due to problems with the shower. David told me I had nothing to worry about and that this was an old problem from 10 years ago that had been fixed. When I asked him for receipts from the owner to show when the work had been carried out he promised me I had nothing to worry about and that the owner had not kept the receipts. Within one week of moving into the property the carpets were damp and mouldy. When I tried to contact David about the issue I was more than polite in my approach yet he was quite short and aggressive towards me. He denied ever having said anything about the bathroom or that the issue was fixed. He then hung up on me. I sent him a message back saying that I would be leaving a review about him and contacting the ombudsman and it was only then that he called me straight back. He sent one of his plumbers out to try and convince me everything was okay. The plumber was also quite rude and aggressive. I have since had 3 quotes to fix the problem and each plumber has confirmed there was definite water damage and problems that have sustained in the property for months if not years. I will never deal with David Stringer again and for anyone else dealing with him I would be very cautious.

Hi Jack, Thank you for providing your personal view on a matter surrounding your purchase which settled 15/6/2021. We take offence to your comments of misleading and unethical conduct and it is only fair to provide the reasoning; 1. You purchased the property with a condition allowing you to undertake a pest & building inspection of which you did. 2. You advised that your inspector had a slight moisture reading in the shower recess which is common - no evidence of the true reading extent was provided. 3. We investigated the matter further for you of which the seller advised the bathroom had been completely replaced several years ago. 4. We spoke to the tenants who were occupying the property and asked if they had or knew of any leakage from the shower / bathroom into the adjoining room or hallway, of which the answer was no. 5. There was no physical evidence that water ingress had affected any outside area within the unit. 6. That if you were still unsatisfied with the findings that you had the option to terminate the Contract, if which you did not. 6. As a gesture we engaged a plumber to test behind the taps & drainage and there was no fault in these areas. Again there was no water penetration into other rooms. Minor leaks in showers can be very difficult to determine and your quest to lay blame on us for any wrong doing is unfounded. Perhaps if you are concerned with any potential leak to engage Mega Seal who specialise in these matters rather than engaging a plumber that may wish to simply replace the entire shower recess. Your comment to warn potential clients against us on the strength of your personal situation is simply coercion and bordering on slanderous. Moreover, we also question the timing of your post which could be considered grandstanding after almost 9 months after you purchased the property and on the announcement of DJ Stringer being awarded Agent of the Year for Tweed Heads.
