I have bought and sold many properties in my lifetime and have seen the good, the bad and the downright ugly of real estate agents. Gavin may not be the prettiest, but I have never had occasion to refer to an agent as a true and genuine friend. I have no doubt that Gavin got us the absolute maximum price for the property given its condition and the market at the time. But if I could have made a little more with another agent I would have no hesitation in rejecting their services in favour of Gavin's integrity, diligence and resourcefulness. He has been a 'gentle agent on the side' for my parents for 3 years now while they vacillated backward and forth with the pros and cons of selling and moving (despite their poor health) giving up so much of his private time to just drop in and chat or bring a cake around for my parents. He never gave up on them moving out of their rat infested home and kept me up to date with sales figures with regular calls to Newcastle. When I took over the responsibility of selling the house there was no doubt in my mind who would be selling it. Gavin has organised skip bins, gardeners, antique dealers, antique auctions, removalists and blockaded the street for trucks with late night-before cones on several occasions. I cant say I have unconditional confidence in Anthony Trees but I do in Gavin McCutcheon. My only regret is not having someone of similar moral character and 'stick to itness' to sell my property in Newcastle.
