Gavin came highly recommended from multiple sources, and was touted as the 'Vaucluse Guru'. He chased hard for the listing, and after some rumination we capitulated, ultimately favouring his excellent reputation for sales in the area. Our property was somewhat unique, being a large semi-detached house in Vaucluse, so my expectations were we would go to a competitive auction. Gavin's team were very professional, efficient and engaged. They communicated well throughout the process, including in relation to restyling our family home and preparing for the calendar of opens, and when the semi next door went to auction just two weeks prior to ours. Admittedly, I was a little disappointed with the level of interest we received, given the diligent preparation, and it was difficult to attribute this to any particular market factor. At times, the process and methods of garnering more interest was a little opaque to me, and I would have liked more information about what strategies might have shifted the balance. But in the end, Gavin was successful in cultivating the best pre-auction sale possible, given all the circumstances. He appears to be an excellent negotiator, and his affable nature and charisma are hard for both vendors and purchasers alike to resist. There is little doubt that Gavin will go the extra mile to make a sale.
I bought my first property in 1963, 52 years ago and have had significant involvement in buying selling multiple properties, both investment and personal residences during that period. This has exposed me to many estate agents and virtually every estate agency in the eastern region, mainly based in the Double Bay area. I get very annoyed with some agents that do not respect my knowledge gained over those 50 plus years in real estate dealing who treat me with mistruths as though I am a novice.
