When I originally showed the property to the purchasers they stated that they were from Launceston and were setting up in Hobart. I was of the belief that most of the items left at the property would be of some use to them, items like globes, tubes, tap washers, plugs, step ladder, outdoor furniture, ornaments, workbench and coat hangers. After settlement the new owners informed me that my late mothers acquired items were rubbish to them, and that they wanted it all removed. Within three days from settlement I removed everything they did not want, well within the seven days permissible on the original contract. We had also conducted a pre-settlement inspection where no mention of any dissatisfaction with the presentation of the property was made and feel given the situation that house was presentable and acceptable to them other than they requested I remove some sheets & linen from the linen press, which was done that day. When I have bought and sold houses in the past, I was appreciating of item the previous owners had left for me to use, and assumed these buyers would also appreciate the items left for them, however this was quite wrong.
