We first met Jan about 12 months ago when she was doing a letter drop to promote the sale of a listing in our street. We invited her to prepare an appraisal for us even though the sale of our property was not being contemplated. About 8 months later (February 2018) when we became serious about a potential move into a retirement village we invited Jan to do a formal appraisal with a view to listing. In anticipation of selling we carried out some basic maintenance work together with a ‘declutter’ exercise as well as a garden tidy-up. We also invited another agent to do an appraisal for us and were bitterly disappointed with this valuation when this was compared to Jan's assessment. After checking on listings in our area we opted to give Jan the opportunity to sell our ‘home’ with our price being at the upper end of her appraisal. In what is generally considered to be a very stressful time, the selling of one’s home (after 36 years) Jan ensured it became a positive experience. She orchestrated approx. 15 groups of people to our first and only ‘home open’. With 4 days of the home open we had accepted an offer that gave us $230 below our target price (after commissions). Within 6 weeks settlement took place. A very pleasing outcome.
