This time we had very different experience in selling our property, with Marc being the agent to go to next time. I would wholeharteadly recommend Marc to anyone wanting to sell his property in the Monash region. Even though we sold our property just at the market price I believe we should have got bit more for my house and Marc gave us a pressure to sell the property even lesser than $700,000 as the market is in downturn which is un acceptable.
When I met Marc, I found him to be honest, and straight forward. His knowledge of the local sales in my area really paid off. Marc always followed through when He promised me some action. As South Australians about to place their Melbourne investment property on the market, we felt it wise to talk with a couple of agents before making a decision concerning as to whom would be the best person to assist us. Marc Lum impressed us immediately with his professional approach, broad knowledge of the suburb, what would be best for us in regards to a practical and realistic presentation of our property as well as an understanding of possible purchasers. He was also open, friendly and extremely helpful when we decided that we required some assistance in preparing the house for auction from a distance. Nothing was too much trouble and he was always available to us, efficiently and immediately acting upon requests and sorting through requirements that allowed a smooth approach for us to auction day. It is impossible to trust an agent, whether that be Marc or anyone else. There is no way to know if there are other offers/competition for the property so its easy to be pushed to offer more money. Agents are clearly working for themselves (not the vendor as they say they are - the vendor is just a means to and end and I'm sure they are played just as much as buyers). I think overall there should be more integrity and honesty shown by agents. We certainly get the feeling of "do what it takes to get the highest price" and I dont think this is the way to run a business as it is short-term thinking that does not develop long lasting trusting relationships. The whole industry could do with an overhaul. As an agent, Marc Lum, is good at his job/better than other agents but we are smart enough to see the strategies he uses to get the prices he does.
