Early in 2024, we considered selling a small house in Brighton which had been in our family for almost 40 years. It was a daunting prospect because we'd not bought or sold any real estate during that time. How to begin? Naturally we talked to a few friends in the suburb who had some experience of local agents. There were several good recommendations but we always like to do our own research. We were aware of Nick Johnstone Real Estate through their prominent activity in the Bayside area and, personally, I like their billboard design and had been very impressed by their auctioneers, Nick and Joe, when we'd gone along to watch a few of their auctions. We contacted Nick and invited him to look at our property. It was a good, no nonsense meeting that gave us some confidence in his knowledge and their process. Nick was the selling agent for a property I recently purchased. He was approachable and happy to discuss the process and intricacies of the potential purchase at the outset. Thereafter he was communicative about terms and potential settlements dates etc. On auction day, he was an excellent auctioneer, extolling the virtues of the property and its location without dragging out what is necessarily a stressful event for most vendors and would-be purchasers.

From my first meeting with Nick through to the sale of property, Nick was direct in his communication and his professionalism stood out. After walking through the property with me he was honest and advised me to sell the property as is, keep the tenants so the rent keeps coming in, do a minimal marketing photo shoot, run a 3-week advertising campaign and auction on the 4th Saturday morning. And that is almost exactly what happened. My property was sold just prior to auction day. The selling price was within the range that Nick had quoted to me. It is quite clear that Nick knows the Brighton and Sandringham market area.

Nicks market knowledge was exceptional. His handling of the vendors and my negotiation was fast and painfree. I will definitely use Nick Johnstone again.
