I’ve recently sold my home and am extremely unhappy with the way the sale was handled by Roland Paterson and Nelson Alexander. I’m not unhappy about the price of the property but the conditions of the sale. I ended up with a 3% deposit and a 120 day settlement. I wasn’t told the deposit was 3% and naively assumed it was 10%. Roland knew I was selling my home to keep my business afloat and he didn’t mention the percentage of the deposit once. At the 11th hr when I questioned the amount he said it’s sometimes less than 10%. When I said I couldn’t sign it he said I’d lose the buyer and the sale. I had asked for a 90 day settlement a number of times and he kept coming back with 120 days. In the end I had my back to the wall and had no choice but to sign. What he did may not have been illegal but it was definitely unethical.
