"Trust" is a big word, but Simon's got ethics and trustworthy
"Trust" and real-estate agents don't often come together. No offense but if you've been through process of buy/sell property you know exactly what I mean. So naturally I'm very cagy with agents. I came across Simon at procurement of the property that was on the market for sometime and presumably had offers already. I entered the 'race' late as property was higher price-point then I initially wanted so didn't participate initially. But as choices runs out this came to our attention. We didn't fall in love with property initially because for good or bad Simon wasn't really "selling" or "broking" it hard to us.
But that's where I saw goodness in him. Instead of having to go through boiler room tactics of high pressure persuasion, he left me alone to an extent I felt he didn't treat me as a client or property was actually under contract. Nevertheless I went back to him and discussed what would be strong offer, to which we placed.
He went silent for few days again and I was under the impression that he was using my offer to 'shop around' other offers. We got nervous but I'm glad we gave him the benefit of doubt and trusted his action. After several rounds of back/forth we managed to cross the line. Throughout the process he was always truthful - he said our offer was strong, nearly there which it was, with final leap. He said vendor would sell if you can get to XXX, which after few days we went back and he kept his word instead of some other excuses. And post contract going unconditional, the vendor wanted to ask for few variation to which he stood by me and firm and told vendor agreement is now set you can't just change this/that... so even he was getting paid by the vendor, he still did the right thing for buyer, in a fair and ethical fashion.
Finding a good real estate agent is like finding a koala next to Sydney Opera House, it's a big surprise and not easy. I will entrust him for next property disposal/acquisition without hesitation.
