Zac is a fabulous real estate agent. He is incredibly hard working, skilled and kind. Watching him work has caused me to coin the term professionism, to sit beside racism and sexism. Part of our culture is to denigrate the work of real estate agents and it is profoundly unfair. Not only did Zac earn every cent of his commission, he did it while being unerringly respectful towards everyone. There were two major hiccups during our house sale, and Zac pivoted calmly and effectively on both occasions. That is when you know you’ve got gold; when something goes wrong and your agent manages it with expertise. He was discrete, gentle, honest and present. He was supportive when we needed that and took calls 7 days a week. Prior to engaging Zac, I was trepidatious about how I would manage that part of selling our home. My head was full of the stereotypical warnings people readily promote. I realized as soon as I met him, that it was unfair that he had to carry this dispiriting perception on his shoulders. His actions dispelled all that rubbish. And he caused me to look further and think about where else we do this as part of our culture. What other roles do we routinely denigrate? Zac not only sold our home, he set me on a philosophical journey of reflecting upon my own assumptions, and putting my inadequate biases right.
