Adjoined by nature reserve and on the edge of lush rainforest, this spacious double-brick rendered house has gorgeous views from every window providing an intimate connection with the birds and wildlife, the night sky and the changing colours of the forest through the seasons.
The large north-facing deck is ideal for entertaining, with dappled shade from a majestic gum. The southern deck is elevated with views across the creek gully and up towards the escarpment, an ideal platform for viewing lyre-bird displays, passing wombats, wallabies and echidnas. The forest is home to spotted quolls, gliders and pygmy possums.
The main house has a kitchen/dining room/lounge, and three bedrooms, one of which has been converted into an office/dressing room. In winter, the wood-fired Rayburn provides hot water, hydronic heating to nine radiators as well as an oven, warmer and hob. An integral fan-assisted Jindara wood-burning stove gives added warmth to the lounge with all firewood sourced from the property.
The "west wing" is a self-contained apartment with a separate hot water system consisting of a large lounge/kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom. Under the living area is a double garage, laundry, workshop and extensive storage as well as access to services.
The organic caged vegetable garden is highly productive throughout the year. The owners are self-sufficient in vegetables, berries and citrus. A 60,000L water tank ensures fresh water from the mountains all year long.
From the bench by the dam you can watch the changing colours of the forest and escarpment at the end of the day to an orchestra of frogs. The dam is fed by a water feature which uses the overflow from the tanks which supply water to the house. There are two water sources utilising water from the mountain which is filtered at the house.
Walking across the paddock and up the road you will come to another dam and more paddocks with fabulous views of the escarpment and valley. Sitting on the top bench you will see the entire valley filled with mist in the mornings or watch the sun go down over the hills in the evening reddening the escarpment, the perfect spot for a studio
On hot summer days when the north-easterly breeze and cool creek air are not enough, you are only a few minutes from the shady Broger's Creek swimming holes and the South Coast's finest beaches.
