I have had the pleasure of working with the team from Buxton in Church Street, Brighton, several times in the last six years, both as a buyer and as a vendor. In particular, I have worked closely with Tom Davidson and, I can honestly say, without exaggeration, that he is the best in the business. In late 2017, I had to begin the process of selling several properties as part of winding up my parents’ estate. The first property (the rental) sold at auction for more than 30% above the reserve. The second property, our family home, was auctioned 6 weeks later. In the lead-up, Tom was very frank about the challenges being faced: less interest, the difficulties associated with the tree, the unsuitability of the house as a rental, coupled with a general downturn in the market in Bayside. This allowed us plenty of time to consider our options and reset our expectations. On the day of the auction, anticipating the possibility of the property being passed in, Tom arrived with a large team of agents, ready to conduct negotiations post-auction if required. In the event, this is exactly what happened. The property was passed in without a bid, so the team got very busy chasing offers, with Tom negotiating with us and willingly and openly discussing the pros and cons of the various offers coming in. In the end, a great result in difficult circumstances: an unconditional offer at our reserve price with a short-term settlement. Tom and the rest of the team at Buxton did an outstanding job of working to sell these properties, overcoming a variety of obstacles, as well as dealing sensitively with the situation as a whole. I can honestly say it was been a great experience working with Tom over the years, and I look forward with genuine pleasure to our next project together.

I first met Tom Davidson when I was bidding at an auction in 2012. While I was unsuccessful at that auction, I met him again at an open house that same afternoon, and bought the house two days later. Tom was terrific throughout the process, quick to get details for me, organising contracts, etc, without ever being pushy. Just enthusiastic and supportive. When it came to selling my parents' rental property at 12 Montclair Ave, I did not hesitate to use Tom. Suffice to say, he was perfect. Helpful, informative and understanding, he constantly referred to us (my siblings and I) for all decisions, whilst guiding us where we needed it. He remained very sensitive to the emotions associated with selling a house that had belonged to our parents, but was also resolute in ensuring we got the best possible deal. I would confidently recommend him to anyone looking to sell.

It was a pleasure working with Halli (and Sonja) on the sale of our property. We found Halli to be both knowledgeable and straight-talking when it came to pricing the property, and he dealt very well with the challenges of a softening market, and communicating through the tyranny of distance (I was based in Perth throughout the marketing process). In the end he was able to work with 3 interested parties to negotiate a sale at our reserve price, within hours of the property being passed in at auction. A good result.
