We are now 6 days into our lease and still have no power. I do feel it is misleading to not advise Renters of the embedded services you are forcing renters to abide to in regards to Electricity and Gas. We rented this place for my mother in law who recently lost her husband and is now forced to leave her family home as the maintenance was too great and also to come live close to her grandchildren in Cheltenham, obviously a stressful and heavy enough time. Coupled with an automated rental process where there seems to be no accountability, we found the whole experience less than satisfactory. Firstly, if my mother in law was locked in a contract, how would she be when she is then forced to abandon and enter a new contract with a provider she never heard of? Who will pay the exit fees? Pretty important information a renter should be aware of no? Misleading, deceptive? We willingly signed a 13 month lease as agent did not want the place vacated 3 days before Christmas next year, understandable, and we agreed to facilitate, but this left us in a dangerous position of not being able to get power allocated. Your automated system does not allow for the finer details i.e. your link only allows for the option of swapping to existing or new provider, we did not firstly know who was the embedded service and when we did find out, it was not an option, literally. We only learned who the provider was/is from a neighbour who had been through a similar experience, 5 days in to our lease. My Mother in law had called and spoke to Indiana and asked for the meter numbers as required after all other headaches and Indiana said she would get back to her, not a whisper. Abandoned, new lease no power, how dare you. Which has now left us delaying new tenants at her family home to their dissatisfaction and disarray and at our expense, so my mother in law has a home with power to get through Christmas.
