Brett’s and his teams market knowledge, professionalism and communication were all good. As the buyer, you must be aware that the agent is acting for the seller. Good discussions and all questions were answered. I have only purchased a few properties over the years and never an older home like this one so I fell for a few things, like expecting that the owner would need to hand everything over in good working order, later to find that the definition of major structural defects was narrow and good working order was limited to electrical items and plumbing, and fixings were included if you saw they were on at the time of inspection. I have now learnt and going forward I will ensure I structure this better in the future; fortunately for us the owners were good to deal with and fixed most of the issues found on the detailed building and pool inspection reports, issues which Brett advised me post-signing but pre-settlement that were outside the contract. A good agent, acting on the buyers behalf, would have given advice on this prior to executing the offer, but I understand this is probably not the selling agents job. All good outside of this and would have no problem dealing with Brett and his team again in the future.
