Without exaggeration - the best in the business

I have had the pleasure of working with the team from Buxton in Church Street, Brighton, several times in the last six years, both as a buyer and as a vendor. In particular, I have worked closely with Tom Davidson and, I can honestly say, without exaggeration, that he is the best in the business. In late 2017, I had to begin the process of selling several properties as part of winding up my parents’ estate. The first property (the rental) sold at auction for more than 30% above the reserve. The second property, our family home, was auctioned 6 weeks later. In the lead-up, Tom was very frank about the challenges being faced: less interest, the difficulties associated with the tree, the unsuitability of the house as a rental, coupled with a general downturn in the market in Bayside. This allowed us plenty of time to consider our options and reset our expectations. On the day of the auction, anticipating the possibility of the property being passed in, Tom arrived with a large team of agents, ready to conduct negotiations post-auction if required. In the event, this is exactly what happened. The property was passed in without a bid, so the team got very busy chasing offers, with Tom negotiating with us and willingly and openly discussing the pros and cons of the various offers coming in. In the end, a great result in difficult circumstances: an unconditional offer at our reserve price with a short-term settlement. Tom and the rest of the team at Buxton did an outstanding job of working to sell these properties, overcoming a variety of obstacles, as well as dealing sensitively with the situation as a whole. I can honestly say it was been a great experience working with Tom over the years, and I look forward with genuine pleasure to our next project together.
