I have purchased several houses in my life and before this they have always been exiting and positive experiences. This was right opposite. I was not allowed to inspect the property properly, instead of relying inspector's reports which were not professionally done. What irritates me the most is overall dishonesty. Pool drainage did not exist, ceiling panels are about to fall down (mounting nails were pulled through and holes filled/painted -dodgy as job) proposing immediate safety risk inside kitchen and living room area. First inspection was done when tenants were occupying the premise, so we just quickly run through the house. Offer had to rush before next inspection when tenants were moved away and they have damaged the living room wall. We can prove it from the pictures. Suddenly it was our fault. Also furnitures covered serious water damages on structural braces which inspector had missed entirely. Pool inspector missed faulty chloriner unit and pool fence supposingly was repaired but obviously that person did not even visit the site as nothing was done. Invoice did get paid, though. Last was aircon which I could not inspect as someone took one AA battery from remote control. Nickie got new battery and told me it works perfectly. Well, it makes cold air and leaking water excessively to the carpet below. Has done that for years as wall board is ruin and steel braces behind are heavily rusted. We have budgeted 50k for renovation but honestly I think we will go over that for 20-30k. What I really would like to see is similar dealing we have in Finland. Seller have to guarantee 5 years faults to the buyer, even hidden ones he was not aware of. This way it is seller's best interest to tell ALL THE FAULTS he is aware of, so he will be covered. What I learned is that buyer has no protection whatsoever when buying the house in WA. It would be everyone's benefit to adopt Finnish culture here. Business is hard but honest. Or should be.
