I sold my property with iThink Property via an off-market campaign led by Mark Costello. While the property sold at the asking price, I was ultimately disappointed by the lack of diligence and strategic effort throughout the process. Although an offer was received within 24 hours, which initially seemed promising, that same weekend my neighbour’s open home attracted 34 buyer groups and multiple offers—something I had flagged with Mark in advance. Despite clear local demand, there was no attempt to generate additional interest or create competition. When I followed up, I was simply told there were no enquiries, which didn’t align with what I had witnessed next door. With no other offers presented, I accepted the initial offer based on Mark’s assurance that the buyer had finance to complete and was proceeding on a 30-day contract. This turned out to be incorrect—the buyer had not secured finance, resulting in unnecessary delays, uncertainty, and a postponed settlement date. In contrast to the enthusiastic profile presented online, my experience did not reflect someone who “goes above and beyond” or demonstrates tireless commitment. While the property sold for the price I wanted, I did not feel the sale was handled proactively or with my best interests in mind. At times, it seemed the buyer received more attention and support than I did. I strongly encourage prospective vendors to ask clear, detailed questions about how buyer demand will be leveraged, how finance will be verified, and what safeguards will be in place should delays occur.
