On first impressions Maurice from Hocking Stuart seemed to be a likeable and friendly person. He also presented himself as very professional and he explained everything my mother needed to know about the sale in very clear terms and made it very easy to understand. He also recommended an auction and not a private sale to get a higher sale price which was successful. In my experience in dealing with real estate agents, all this seemed well and good. We knew we were in good hands. But there was one important thing that set him apart from the rest. His compassion on the day of the auction. Selling a home can be very stressful but Maurice put my mother at ease. Leaving the house was quite an emotional experience for my mother. Maurice treated us as people and not just a number, sympathising with the loss of my mother's husband and reassuring her that she should use this as a positive new chapter in her life. And as it turned out Maurice (also being the auctioneer), was able to get more than what we expected and my mother was able to buy a new house. Since the sale of her home we have recommended Maurice to another two sellers (a friend and my brother in law) and would definitely recommend him to anyone selling their house.
