Purchasing your first home is no easy task. It seems like every Tom and Jerry on the internet has their own top 10 tips and the wealth of information being spat at you from every direction can become quite overwhelming. When it came to advice on dealing with Real Estate Agents, I was warned to be cautious – they are, of course, working on behalf of the seller. ‘Hold your cards close to the chest; poker face; don’t let on that you’re a first home buyer’. Turning up to the first open home for 23 Grevillea Street, Bellbird Park, I don’t think it was hard for Angela to spot that I was looking to purchase my first home, being a fresh-faced 26 year old, ‘oohing’ and ‘ahhing’ at the positioning of the power points (perfect for charging my android phone) with my parents right beside me. The home was perfect. I knew it straight away – the multiple entertainment areas, the low maintenance garden, the location – God willing, I could see myself on the veranda, sipping on my protein shake with a few breasts of chicken on the barbie, looking out over the yard well into my retirement. But with multiple offers on the table and a large turn out to the open home, what was the process for negotiation, and if successful, what steps needed to be taken to ensure that the process was smooth for all parties? This is where Angela from All Properties Group – Greater Springfield, came into her element. She walked through the entire purchasing process with me: responded instantly to all my silly questions, communicated effectively and was open and honest. There is no façade with Angela. I’m sure there are some dodgy Real Estates out there, as with all professions, but Angela goes against all my preconceived misconceptions.
