The family was super excited to find a house that's big enough to accommodate everyone (and then some), and in a great location. During the inspection some handymen were present and it appeared that some work was being done prior to us moving. This was very reassuring. However, upon moving in, I'm struggling to think of ANYTHING they have done to prepare for the new tenants, despite having over a week between when we signed the contract and when we moved in. So far we've had to with: - malfunctioning locks - unhinged doors - leaky plumbing - water heater that seems to contaminate and discolor water - electrical issues - improperly done wiring - missing smoke detectors - doors that won't shut property/fully - broken blinds - dirty and moldy curtains - broken window winders - broken stove top - broken rangehood - a completely unmaintained garden And to top it all off: major roof leaks, flooded pergolas and gutters full to the brim. What little undercover storage this place has, is unusable because of flooding and roof leaks Not to mention the overall dirtiness - the place wasn't even so much as dusted The impression we got is, whoever lived here didn't like the place really much and didn't take care of it. Then simply packed up and left, without bringing the place to a good condition. And in such condition the place was put on the market and leased with no work being done. The house has great potential, however neither the previous tenant/owner, nor the property managers have done anything to bring it to a decent condition prior to new tenants moving in. I feel like 95% of the issue above could have been easily resolved following even the most basic inspection, and yet now, over 2 and a bit weeks since we've moved in, we're struggling to get the bulk of the work done and are unable to enjoy our new home. Utterly disappointing and adds completely unnecessary stress to what's already a stressful situation - moving.
