Brockman. Originally the estate consisted of 60 acres freehold, cleared for cultivation. There were large swamp paddocks particularly adapted for Summer Production, the general character of the land being loamy, with a clay subsoil. The clearing had been very heavy and consisted of Tuart and Paperbark Trees. The residence was built of bricks made from the clay on the estate, and the farm was one of the most compact in the district and capable of growing anything. On August 28th 1929 Sandridge Park was to become Bunbury Golf Club. A crowd of over 300 people watched the Hon Edwin Rose MLC open the Club House. Mrs Flynn prepared the Club room and the home. It was said to be her dream that women and their children were able to play golf together, and she was willing to provide that opportunity. The Club House commanded an elevated position in picturesque surroundings. Situated at the end of an avenue of majestic gum trees, the Sandridge Park Club House possessed a shady car park and afforded panoramic views from the high elevation. The layout of the course, with it's green fairways and stately groves of trees, was reminiscent to the wonderful links courses found in other parts of the world. The ''Horse Shoe Lake'' made up part of the 12th par 3 hole. This lake was visible from the Club House room and still is today. The Grand Ball Room of the Golf Club is where the official opening launch was held and over 100 distinguished guests where catered for. The Club Room still stands today in its original form. Sandridge Park Country Golf Club not only catered for Golf, with its ideal environment the estate had a triple appeal for out-door sport in Bunbury providing areas to play Cricket, Tennis and Golf. Make sure you don't miss out on the opportunity to own a piece of Bunbury's history. Property Code: 5787
