When coming in as "buyers", we didn't expect Derek to be on "our" side. This is because - the agent acts on behalf of the vendor and also himself/herself. The buyer is NOT a priority. And this is not wrong. I completely agree with this. However, right off the bat, Derek was leagues away from the other agents we encountered during our property hunt. He was courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. His skills and experience really came into play when there were a few road-bumps during the 'cooling off' period. He held his own and ensured both parties were satisfied, where most other agents may have failed. We would even go on to say, most other agents may have dropped the ball and he deal could have easily gone south. Derek's cool head and friendly nature are a bonus. In the end, an agent who is supposed to act on the behalf of the buyer and himself, ended up being a friend to us too. We'd recommend him to others at the drop of a hat.

Over 6 months, we actively searched for an investment property and made a handful of offers. As a result, we encountered many sales agents and realised that not all agents are created equal. In July, we made an offer on one of Derek's properties in Ambarvale and it was instantly clear that his professionalism and integrity was far superior to the rest. Firstly, his communication style was straight up but very approachable. He was always available and ensured we were updated on the progression of the discussion with the vendor that was overseas at the time (even taking our call when we didn't realise it was his day off). When we requested to do a building inspection and valuation he was prompt to organise access for us so that we could progress the negotiation and ensure our finances were secured. Overall, our interaction with Derek was a breath of fresh air! He is genuine, responsive, efficient and by far the best sales agent in Sydney that we have dealt with. We've also witnessed another one of Derek's open homes in Campbelltown, where his sales skills drew in a frenzied crowd (despite Sydney's 'cooling market') and he obtained a premium sales price for the vendor. From our interactions with Derek we've been extremely impressed and highly recommend him!
