We decided to use Jodie McCarthy and Eliot Gill from Jellis Craig after they came round and made a short presentation to us at our house in Highett Street. We had similar presentations from the main players in Richmond. What impressed us both about Jodie and Elliott was the way that they were able to relate to us as customers. This gave us a good idea of how they deal with the people who were likely to buy our house. They both come across as articulate and well-informed professionals. The other important factor was that Jellis Craig shares its listings with other branches giving it a wider reach into potential markets. The marketing and selling process is always fairly fraught for the vendors but both Jodie and Elliott were always available to smooth out the bumps. The bumps that occurred were in the preparation of the advertising material by the "back office" which was riddled with typographic and factual errors. Auction day saw Elliott at his best. Despite everyone's best efforts, we were only able to conjure up one bidder. When the post-auction negotiations began, Elliott was able to extract an extra $40k from the buyer which was an extremely good result. One of the impressive things about the way Elliott and Jodie approach their work is they see the buying and selling process as an end-to-end one. Even though our house had been sold, they were available to give us advice on relationships with the purchaser and on the purchase of our new house even though we were not buying through Jellis Craig. We took Jodie and Elliot's advice and went for the "bells and whistles" campaign. Although the most expensive, this approach gave us wide coverage. Anyone who uses Jodie and Elliot will be in very good hands.
