Jacob's encouragement and support were a great benefit to us during the sale of our home at Moorooka. We had lived at Hyslop Street since our marriage 55 years ago. Our five children were born there, so there was a lot of emotion involved in our leaving. Added to this Tom has been a semi-invalid for eight and a half years. Fortunately we had support from our large family but Jacob's presence at our door and his support were always welcome. On one occasion Jacob's support was physical when he took off his coat and climbed on the roof of our shed to remove the branches and to wash the gutters clean.
