It was the week before Christmas 2017. We had just sold our house to buy what appeared to be our dream property. The agent for that property (who was NOT Jody) had discouraged us from doing building and pest inspection prior to our house selling, so I had rather naively sold my house in good faith. But building and pest inspection revealed that our dream property was riddled with termites, shoddy (and illegal) workmanship, and would feature a hefty renovation bill. It was not the house that we thought that it was. So two days before Christmas we made the difficult decision to terminate that contract. With our house settling in four weeks, we hit realestate.com.au and started ringing agents, but this was quite possibly the worst time of year to be house-hunting. One agent kindly answered his phone, but most of our calls went to voicemail, unanswered. On New Years Eve we called Jody Young, the star of this review. Although officially on holiday and enjoying a relaxing day by the pool, she heard the desperation in our voices and took pity on us, leaving her well deserved break to take us through the house. We are so grateful that she did. We explained that we needed a quick settlement because we would be homeless in three weeks, and she explained that the sellers wanted a quick sale so that they could travel around Australia. We were a match made in heaven, and I signed the contract on the spot. Although there were other (higher) offers coming in for this house, Jody advocated for us, and within days sent me the counter-signed contract. Jody has communicated really well with us throughout the process, and has been really kind in helping me to navigate what needs to happen and when, the right processes to follow, and even to buy some of the furniture from the sellers. She's kind, honest, upbeat and efficient, and I truly believe (after my own real estate adventures in buying and selling) that you could not find a better person to help you sell or buy a house.
